HDA drivers (thx Taruga) Along with the standard drivers usually found in other leopard install dvds.This release does not include any apps/mods to the UI. Also this is a OS X 10.5.4 Server (thx for the packages f41qu3 and SJobs) / Client installation dvd. Installation of Server will require a valid serial that I have not included. The base for this release was built with slipstream (thx Dense). DVD art by Realityiswhere.

Script instalador de Automatix 2 para Ubuntu actualizado

Nuevo Script-Automatix v2.0

He actualizado el script para poder instalar Automatix 2 en el nuevo *Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10). Sigue siendo el mismo script de antes, quiza con algunos leves cambios visuales.

Instrucciones:

Ejecuta lo siguiente en una terminal una vez descargado el script en tu home:

# ./scriptautomatix.sh

ATI funciona mejor en Linux que en Windows Vista

Los últimos controladores gráficos de ATI para Linux han demostrado unas prestaciones increíbles. Tanto es así que varios juegos superan en rendimiento a las ediciones de Windows Vista, algo imposible para ATI hace tan sólo un par de meses.

En Phoronix han realizado una comparativa en la que utilizaron unas Radeon HD 2900XT con los últimos controladores gráficos para Linux (los famosos 8.42 con soporte AIGLX) y para Windows Vista.

La distribución Linux de pruebas fue una Fedora 7 con un kernel 2.6.23 y los mencionados drivers flgrx 8.42.3, mientras que Windows Vista Ultimate hacía uso de los Catalyst 7.10. El resto de componentes de la máquina de referencia: procesadores dual-core Xeon E5320, una placa base Tyan Tempest i5000XT, 4 Gbytes de memoria, 300 Gbytes de disco duro SATA y una fuente de alimentación de 750W de OCZ.

En esa configuración instalaron Doom 3 y Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, ya que ambos títulos disponen de versiones tanto para Windows como para Linux, y los resultados fueron sorprendentes: aunque en Doom 3 los resultados fueron muy similares, en ET y a altas resoluciones el juego funcionaba notablemente mejor en Linux que en Windows Vista, un logro que sin duda hace prometer un futuro brillante para ATI en Linux.

Una maravillla de verdad: el nuevo PSP Slim

Les presento el nuevo PSP Slim de Edición Limitada y que compre en mi visita a USA. Este nuevo PSP tiene varias mejoras con respecto al anterior, como es el cambio de lugar de las bocinas para colocarlas al frente, obteniendo mejor sonido, es también menos grueso y su peso es de 2/3 con respecto al PSP Normal o "FAT".

Y como el anterior PSP, comparte la ilegal posibilidad de hackearlo para cambiar su firmware y cargarle toda clase de homebrew, desde emuladores hasta un Linux o Windows emulado (aunque proximamente disfrutaremos de una versión nativa de uClinux que será superior).

Esta hermosura me costo $211 USD, y viene en dos versiones: Star Wars y Daxter.
El mio (Star Wars) es blanco, por atras luce Darth Vader y trae el Juego SW Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, que se puede jugar en Internet con un punto de acceso via GameSpy.
